If you’ve been meaning to register for the Tony Hillerman Writers Conference: Focus on Mystery, September 30—next Sunday—is the early registration deadline. www.hillermanconference has all the info on program and faculty, including the agents who will welcome your pitches. Please drop us a note if you have any questions. Hope you can join us! You can sign up later, of course, but it will cost a little more.

In other news, we received more than 150 entries for the mystery short story contest we offer with Cowboys & Indians magazine. The stories are now with our judge and the winner will be announced in November at the conference.
