FARMINGTON PUBLIC LIBRARY HOSTS RETURN OF STEPHEN ALLTEN BROWN

FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO – The Farmington Public Library invites you to explore the wonder and mystery of Chaco Canyon with noted author Stephen Allten Brown. Mr. Brown will be at the Farmington Public Library on Thursday, September 27 at 7:00 pm to discuss his book “The Shadows of Chaco Canyon." Mr. Brown was previously at the Farmington Public Library earlier this year. While he was here in February, Mr. Brown elaborated on the celestial events at Chaco Canyon, and how these elements play a significant role in his book. During this visit, he will further elaborate on the Great Houses, grand roadways, irrigation systems, and the solar and lunar markers at Chaco Canyon.

Stephen Allten Brown was born and raised in Albuquerque, graduated from the University of New Mexico, and is an avid outdoorsman. Keenly sensitive to the nuances of culture, he was captivated by the mysteriously spiritual ethos of Chaco Canyon upon his first visit in October, 2000. In his book “The Shadows of Chaco Canyon”, Mr. Brown has reanimated the miraculous world heritage site of Chaco Canyon with the addition of a fictional story that accompanies the real elements of Chaco Canyon.

Stephen Allten Brown’s perspective on the archeoastronomy of Chaco Canyon was an exciting and well received program at the library. Many Four Corners residents have requested another opportunity to hear his insights into how celestial events interact with the architecture of this local landmark. Mr. Brown will also be available for book signings after the discussion. “Chaco Canyon and its celestial features are a widely discussed topic here in the Four Corners,” stated Juris Odins, a Reference Librarian at the Farmington Public Library. “We felt this was a great opportunity to bring back Stephen Allten Brown so he could further discuss this amazing local attraction.”
