COLORADO ART RANCH WRITERS-IN-RESIDENCE PRESENT TALK
AT MARIA’S BOOKSHOP
DURANGO (September 18, 2007)—Emily Wortman-Wunder and Marj Hahne, two writers in Durango for a one-month residency sponsored by Colorado Art Ranch, will present a collaborative discussion about their creative process at Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Avenue, on Wednesday, September 26th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m..
Wortman-Wunder and Hahne are two of six artists who are currently participating in the residency program in Durango. The group includes three writers and three visual artists. Emily Wortman-Wunder is a Research Associate in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Colorado State University, from which she received her MFA in Writing. Marj Hahne, who lives in Lafayette, CO, is a poet and educator who has performed and taught at over 100 venues around the country, as well as been featured on public radio and television programs. Her poems have been published in literary journals, anthologies, and several art exhibits, and have been incorporated in the work of visual artists and dancers. She has a poetry CD titled notspeak
Colorado Art Ranch serves as a retreat for writers and visual artists. Artists and writers who attend Colorado Art Ranch have a place to immerse themselves in their work, time to experiment, think and develop their work, and an opportunity to collaborate with artists, writers, and the community.
Colorado Art Ranch takes place in small Colorado towns, but its benefits are wide-ranging. From Beowulf and the cave paintings to Robert Rauschenberg and Annie Proulx, writers and artists have changed the world. Artists and writers rouse us from our intellectual somnolence, inspire us, give us joy, and connect us to beauty. They give us glimpses into our own souls.
