New Mexico Book Association January News

Jan. 22 Round Table Gathering. Feb. 19 Non-Traditional Publishing Workshop!
NMBA Begins 15th Year of Service
New Mexico Book Association's first membership gathering of 2009 will be our 5:30 pm informal Happy Hour Round Table at the Santa Fe Bar & Grill, in DeVargas Mall on Thursday, January 22. By then we'll have all recovered from the holidays and (we trust) be ready to tackle the challenges of a new year! Our Round Tables are informal, yet a great occasion to get acquainted and network with like-minded book people. No reservations--just come.
This is NMBA's 15th year serving the book professionals of New Mexico! We will present two Professional Development Workshops just ahead, on Feburary 19 and March 19. The first is on the ways and means of non-traditional publishing--and New Mexico has an abundance of non-traditional publishers. The March workshop/seminar features Ruthie Francis, who will share her wealth of knowledge on book promotion and marketing.
You are invited to apply now for the IBPA Publishing University Affiliate Scholarship. IBPA-U takes place just before BookExpo America 2009 in New York, May 28-31. Free tuition and a $500 stipend! Phone (310) 372-2732 for details. We'll have details right here at NMBA shortly as well: (505) 231-1755.
NMBA keeps growing! We welcome our newest members: Kathryn Fraser, Michele Heeney, Margaret E. Neighbor, Valerie W. Stasik, Maida Tilchen, and DonnaLee Wheeler.
